I wish we who have see this could explain to smokers, who all think they are immortal...
I think that there must be a certain amount of "teenager" (aka "that won't happen to me" mentality) inside every smoker; there's also the addictive nature of nicotine at work. My dad, thank You, Lord, is still healthy after having smoked on and off and on and off and ... for more years than I can remember. Daddy *knows* -- he was a medical products salesman; I can remember him talking about one of his doctors having a pickled smokers lung in a jar on his desk -- ugly and shriveled and black, but it never motivated him to stop. At least my mother won't let him smoke inside the house.
