Quoting Lloyd Mitchell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
On the subject of gold work: I picked up a very interesting volume last year that has been tweaking my curiosity enough to go looking for some gold threads. The title is "The Stumpwork, Goldwork and Surface Embroidery Beetle Collection" every kind of beetle and related bug imaginable is reproduced in needlework... I picked it up with the idea of getting inspired to do some of the bees that are found on textiles from the 16th/19th C. particularly during the First French Empire (Napoleon and Josephine)
Is there much 16th C (or earlier) things in there? That sounds like something that I'd like to get!
