I can't give you any specific numbers, but do not sell yourself short!
Contract work means an extra 15% in self-employment tax, and if you're
losing office space or other overhead type things, you'll need to compensate
for that as well. Make sure you know who'll be paying for your supplies; in
some types of contract work, the contractor is expected to cover expenses.
Also, is SB in financial trouble? I just glanced at their website, which
has their 2004 annual report (but nothing more recent) and it looks like
they were doing pretty good then. If they're not in trouble, but are
reorganizing for the sake of reorganizing, don't be afraid to negotiate even
if this sort of job is a bit on the rare side--you're the one who knows what
they do there and how they do it.
