Kelly,

I don't think beading and dress trims were very popular at that time.  I
have seen some fabric self-trim on some dresses and *lots* of embroidery. 
The styles at that time were supposed to be more "simple" to get away from
the excesses of the late 1700's styles.

If you have been asked to display beading, maybe you can ask to display
embroidery instead?  You will have an easier time finding examples.....
