Oh, darn "Dress at the Court of King Henry VIII" yet another book from
the other side of the pond I just have to have! And Amazon.uk doesn't
even list it yet on their site! Double darn!

Just got from Amazon.uk, my preordered copy of Innocent Traitor, the
first novel by Alison Weir. It is based on the life of Lady Jane Grey,
Nine Days' Queen of England. No U.S. publication date as yet for us
Tudor fanatics on the west side of the pond.

I only have read the first two chapters. So far it is by multiple
narrators recording in first person present tense. So far the narrators
are Jane herself, her mother, Frances Brandon, and Queen Jane Seymour.
Interesting format. It will be interesting to see how Weir as a
historian sticks to history.

On the cover is a photograph of a girl dressed in a close approximation
of the ensemble worn by young Princess Elizabeth(crimson gown portrait).
We purists may be quick to spot that the girl has blonde, not auburn
hair, and the sleeves of her gown,(all layers)are less structured and
more droopy at worst, and seem more earlier 16th century at best, but at
least it is serious cover art, including an overprint of Jane's actual
handwriting, rather than the historical romance cover art which is often
snicker-worthy!
