Is this the period du jour or what!

I think so! HBO(which I don't subscribe to) is airing a miniseries about
the latter part of the reign of Elizabeth I, starring Helen Mirren, this
Saturday Has this been seen in the UK yet?

Yes, but my comments are unprintable, as liberties, as usual, were taken with the facts. And I like my historical films about real people, if purporting to be the real thing, to at least look something like the portraits, even if it doesn't matter to other viewers.

Also novelist Philippa Gregory has a novel coming out in Sept in the
UK(The Last Boleyn)about a relative of the Boleyns during the time of
Elizabeth I(not Lettice Knollys)whom I'm not sure is based on a real
Boleyn descendant or not. This book will be published later in the US
as "The Boleyn Legacy"

I am reading her book on Elizabeth "The Virgin's Lover". I suppose it's not bad, as a work of fiction, but i am not keen on her view of history.

There is always some Tudor book or whatever in the pipeline somewhere
and I've bought or read most of them I think!
