I agree. And actually, if anyone is in Austin and part of the classics department there is a private library downstairs that has copies of these and many many many other books.
Truthfully though, I have the book and the cd. Read it, listened to it. I did not see anywhere in or on the book any reference to him saying this is based on actual facts. He did give credit to other books. Being a student of archeology many years ago I was given access to this library in the classics department and found said books and translations of the dead sea scrolls. I have to admit that at such a young age I lost my faith after reading all of that. I have since found it again because it all comes down to just one thing. But really, if you have any education in this specific area you know, you have to know, that all fiction books of this genera when they say they are based on documentation of the period that yes, it is documentation of the period in question. It is however not making claims that said documentation is the be all and end all of the truth. There are way too many versions of this specific "truth" to claim that there is one that is more real than the next. I mean, come on, there is even a book from the period title .. "The Rape of Eve", it proports to be the tale of how giants were begat. I mean, how many versions of the tale of the 'Necklace' do we have from the period of Marie Antoinette? How many of Queen Elizabeth having children? How many of Queen Mary actually surviving her own beheading? Can we get back to costuming talk now???? Please? :) I want to hear everyone's opinions of HBO's Elizabeth I. Change the subject line if you can answer this question. :) Specifically the opening where she is being undressed. This is the third time in a period film that I have seen the unlayering of clothing. I am interested if someone can give a blow by blow of what was taken off and if it was at all accurate.
