LOL....yes it does take all sorts! You thought the costumes "dire" ?????  
C'mon! Why? I'm interested in why you hate them.
Acting -wise, there was no one really stellar, but to keep that confusion  of 
a script going took some talent.

doesn't take into account the  facts of theatre in England.

Yes I'm sure acting changed when women were allowed on stage, but not the  
stupid way it appears in the film. All of Restoration Comedy proves that! If it 
 
had changed like in the film, no one would have NEEDED Stanislovisky in the 
19th  century! And all that lame "sexual politics" stuff. Lines like "What do 
men DO  when they have sex?" Pu-leez! Just DUMB! ....but  beautiful!
