I haven't tried that technique, but it's fairly simple. You use a
running stitch along the lines, then run the cording into the spaces
with a tapestry needle from the back. Use fleece for any larger
spots.
Embroidery seems more challenging to me, because of the different
stitches and tension of the base fabric, not to mention color
choices!
These pieces are just quilting & stuffing.
