But I understand your reservations about movement. Would someone at the hearth wear such a corset?
Ha! This goes to many of the problems with this program. As the program is now, I am the lady of the house, who no doubt would not be found in the kitchen, except to be ordering someone else around! This is what happens when you work at a small museum with a lack of staff to fully portray the appropriate people in your immensely popular, "been going for 20 years" school program. Try making changes that might detract from attendance and you could be in for serious problems. Despite some glaring historical errors, I am trying to improve the historical accuracy when and where I can, which is what got me started sewing my own costumes (or trying to!) during the last two years.
I will think about trying to add the boning as you suggest and see what that does. Thanks for the idea.
