I have a "Centennial Dress" from the 1870's that's a really interesting take on quasi-Colonial. I'm still trying to figure out what they were doing with the flat-fronted skirt that has some really odd seams to make quasi-panniers, and the bias-wrapped elbow-triangles are a hoot. What really drives costume historians crazy is the Centennial dresses that were re-made from real 18th century dresses. So you have that wonderful fabric remade, as one historian put it, as "Little Bo Peep."
