The key to "Christmas Carol" is to decide what period the "present" is
[usually 1843] and how old Scrooge is. If he's say 60, then the Fezziwig
scenes,
which take place when he's, oh, 20, need to be mid 1800s. Duh!

I only mention this because I worked a production that put the Christmas
past in panniers!!!! But the "present" was in it's usual 1840's time frame.
That
makes Scrooge like 90!!!! Pretty ridiculous. [the lousy designer just didn't
like the Empire waist....pu-leeze!]

Also, were I designing, I would do Christmas past in all whites and off
whites, with gauzy and fuzzy fabrics. The "Present" would be in bright aniline
dyes, plaid taffetas and such. Christmas future is all black and dark browns.
This not only looks great and gives the right feel to each episode, it is
sorta accurate to what was actual popular at those times. The Past is a faded,
flowing dream. The present is vibrant and here and now. The future murky,
unknown and kinda scary.

Of course if you're pulling things...it's hard to stick to such schemes, but
worth a try.

Good luck! Have fun!
