I have now done a reprint of my doctor's dissertation "Kläderna och
människan i medeltidens Sverige och Norge" ("Clothing and the individual
in medieval Sweden and Norway"). It's a survey of all clothing mentioned
in wills and other types of documents from Norway and Sweden between
1200 and 1500. The clothes, and also fabric intended for clothes, are
analysed in comparison with both preserved clothing and contemporary
art. Social differences and the spread of fashion is adressed as well as
how gender was expressed; and why it was expressed that way. The
abstract can be read here: http://web.comhem.se/~u41200125/abstract.htm
It's a rather large book, 376 pages , with c. 40 black and white
pictures (not art book quality, but that's not needed for the purpose of
the text)
If you read a scandinavian language you may be interested in buying it.
You can do that from Handelsgillet:

Since I don't have a publisher for an english version and I have no idea
where to find one it is not likely there will be one.
