I received, in such good time that I had to sit on my hands to resist
opening early, a package of lovely things from the National Gallery
of Victoria in Melbourne:
-a catalogue raisonné of their Dürer collection (one of my FAVORITE
artists of all time!)
-a gorgeous same of the exhibit "Everlasting: The Flower in Fashion
and Textiles" (fabric, lace, and beautiful garments)
-three postcards of eighteenth-century family portraits
-a stationery card with Antonis Mor's "Portrait of a Lady (c. 1555-60)
Some of the plays I've directed and costumed are from these periods,
so the illustrations are of particular interest.
Thanks so much to Sharon Nevin.

p.s. I agree with some of the comments posted today about how hard it
is to stay in the spending limit. I went to my favorite discount
fabric store to shop for my partner's gift--he has gorgeous trims
that are remarkably affordable--but even at his prices I could afford
only ONE of the six lovely things I wanted to send....

My gift was a wonderful book on an Anglo-Saxon burial
excavation. Perfect as I'm studying/renacting that
culture and period. Thanks for such a thoughtful
present.
