They didn't have opened toes either did they? BTW - I hated the movie - I thought it was completely boring. I'm not in a position to comment on the costume of the period...
Irrespective of all that, I think it is cool to see the influence on modern dress. Complete accuracy aside, it is a fun discovery when you find something that may pass for a period shoe.
