You beat me to it!  My husband told me about it this morning, and I was going 
to pass it on to the list.  I believe the plans are to try to stabilize/save 
the piece first, and then try some analysis.  (I remember reading that several 
years ago, a piece of silk was found--I believe they think it might have been 
Phillip of Macedonia's tomb, but it had basically turned to jelly, as the silk 
proteins were broken down)
