The "scary fabric store" on Lundy and Berryessa is also known as Fabrics R Us.

'Lo Hope, I'm a SF/SJ local & I'd recommend Thai Silks for plain taffetas, china silks & Chinese brocades in a rainbow of colors (but you could order the same thing from them online). For sheer wacky variety, I'd have a wander thru the Scary Fabric Store aka Fabric Mart (corner of Lundy & Berryessa in N San Jose). It's piled very high & close together, but there will be things you cannot find anywhere else. I think they buy dead stock, overruns and stock from warehouse/retail store closings. http://www.sanjose.com/fabric-mart-b2480191 Britex in SF is where you going for the expensive (silk on silk velvet, unusual (velvet ribbon) or designer items. Big yawn for us historical types. You wont find historical looking embroidereds. If you gotta stay in SF and dont want the high end designer things, try Discount Fabrics in the Haight http://www.discountfabrics-sf.com/ or maybe one of the places the drag queens shop. --cin Cynthia Barnes [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list [email protected] http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list [email protected] http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
