Hi everyone, thanks for the advice, I went shopping on Friday and ended up
finding a cheap felt tricorn hat from a 'dollar store' type shop so I
decided as the theme was pirates I would use it instead of investing time
experimenting with a cap, I did achieve big hair but let it down later in
the night as the weight was giving me a headache. I only got one photo of
the completed ensemble, you can see it here

with the hat so it's hard to see the effect of my big hair)
