Surely, with all the "painted silk" scarves and such around, there is an acrylic-like dye just for silks, and a medium for making it whatever consistency you want. Dharmatrading.com And depending on how intricate you get.... it might take just as long a embroidery. :-P I saw someone do this to white on white embroidery on a fringed piano shawl with permanent markers.... the kind designers and illustrators use. They come in every color known to man, but are used up quickly on fabric. They bleed a little....it really depends on the fabric how much. They are dye...an alcohol based dye I believe.... and will fade in sunlight.... like dye.
