I thought the same thing, and I looked at my web site thinking the same, saw
the pic, and realized it was close... but it is the manner of the upper sleeve
furs that is what stuck in my swiss cheese memory, not just the shape of the
sleeve. I knew I had wanted to make it long ago when I first read Norris
(before I learned better). I love the idea of this kind of "mahoitered" sleeve
(to use Norris' term for it)
So it niggled at the back of my mind for a long time. The locket was the key,
and so I dug through Norris again, thinking maybe I had missed something.
I had... page #430 of the Dover reprint, image #523. Marked as "The Princess
Mary II, 1553". Noted on the side as "the Lady Mary II" and given date of
1551-53. And yes, the locket, pomander, purse or whatever that heart shaped
item in her hand, is redrawn next to the drawing of the woman.
Norris goes about in his usual way to describe what is worn, that I won't go
into here. This is under the chapter on "The Reigns of Edward VI and Mary",
under "Spanish Styles".
I am not sure still about the person so named, or the style of the period. It
would help to find the actual original portrait, if it is still available
somewhere.
