Good evening all,

My current major project is an 18th century robe a l'anglaise for a ball
coming up in July. The theme of the ball is 'the age of indulgence chocolate
ball' (the time period is nominally 18th century) so I'm fitting with the
chocolate theme by making a purple robe a l'anglaise. I was hoping to make
brown accessories to help the theme along but the only brown fabric I have
in my stash that's not set aside for a particular project is a small piece
of velveteen. I've only got about 1 metre of this but I have never done much
research into 18th century fashions (I've previously focussed on the 16th &
19th centuries) so I don't know what it might be used for.

Has anybody got any suggestions on an 18th century accessory that would use
only one metre of velvet (something to keep warm would be good as July is
the middle of winter for those of us in the southern hemisphere)
