Does anyone know of a resource with photos or
drawings of Austrian uniforms (no necessarily
dress) for the period from the late 1800s to just
before WWI? There seems to be a big gap in
what's published between Napoleanic and WWI.
Thanks,
Kathy Hoover

It isn't really comprehensive, but _Uniforms of the Infantry 1919 to
the Present_ by Jörg M. Hormann has a section on walking out uniforms,
and some pictures of mess uniforms from that time. It's volume 2 of a
series called "German Uniforms of the 20th Century". Volume 1 was on
panzer troops (which I haven't read), and I don't know if there were
any others.

mostly looking for information on walking-out
dress and the German equivalents--if any--of
Anglo-American mess dress (both the white tie
and the black tie varieties), and the timeframe
I'm interested in is actually something like
1895-1945, so a bit broader than just the two
World Wars but still closely related.
