In my use case, the reliability is not an issue. The data stored in
the database is the result of an analysis process, which I can always
execute again if something goes wrong. I prefer having faster
performance with less reliability. I don't think I'm alone here. H2 is
ideal as an embedded part of a desktop client and the requirements are
not the same as a server. I second the motion to provide an option to
disable the fsync calls.
