Hell yes, why not. As long as the reliable version is the default. Then configurability won't hurt anyone.

In my use case, the reliability is not an issue. The data stored in the database is the result of an analysis process, which I can always execute again if something goes wrong. I prefer having faster performance with less reliability. I don't think I'm alone here. H2 is ideal as an embedded part of a desktop client and the requirements are not the same as a server. I second the motion to provide an option to disable the fsync calls. Zviki
