Hi,

I think I have solved how to connect from application 2 (and others) to the
H2-server in application 1
in automatic mixed mode. I use H2 with OObase as GUI.

I finally understood that the H2-server in the first app must be reached from
other applications
in two ways. It is not enough using the URL written in H2:
"jdbc:h2:~/test;AUTO_SERVER=TRUE".
Another connection over a LAN, NFS or IPN (=Instant Privat Network that I use
instead of a LAN,
see www.remobo.com) is also needed.
If this is a completely correct description I don`t know (? ) - but it worked -
so far at least.

When starting app1 of H2 in the first computer with
URL:"jdbc:h2:/path/test;AUTO_SERVER=TRUE" the URL
automatically established in the webbrowser
"http://x.x.x.x:8082/login.do?jsessionid=abb82ebec.........";
was copied to a webbrowser in the other computer and H2 started directly with
connection to the
server in app 1 - and it worked. For users of H2 only this is enough

For me next step was to connect OOBase from app2 to the H2 in app1 since I use
that software as GUI to H2.
That seems not to be possible using the same URL as used in OOBase in the first
app to connect to H2.
Instead I moved the H2-files to the "shared network"-folder in app1. The shared
folders between computers are
established by IPN automatically (Windows XP and 7). So now I can connect Base
as GUI in computer2 with H2 as
database in app1. My jdbc-path/url in OOBase to the shared folder:
jdbc:h2:\\Z:\Shared documents\H2\bin\test;AUTO_SERVER=TRUE.

I haven`t tested this a lot yet but creating tables, queries, forms and reports
work like I am used to.
I don`t run huge or complicated databases so testing is done at that level.

An advantage with this IPN-software is the possibillity to connect to the
H2-server whereever Í am as long as there is
an internet connection thanks to the IPN.

My question is if this solution hides is a Automatic Mixed Mode and maybe hides
any problems according to how H2 works?
