I think he is asking about AVS config database.

For the config without shared disks, each physical
node may have to configure AVS locally, as if they are two
independent solaris machines.

Config on shared disks is needed only when the replication
is between two clusters (or one cluster and one node outside
of cluster). The IP address that is used in the cluster is
a LogicalHost for failover between nodes. That is why AVS
needs shared disks in that config.
