Hello there... Seems like there is a problem with the AVS and the recognize of the disk label and stuff... So, i did try on the past to use the ZFS for initialize the disk partitions and fmthard, and did see errors exactly the same you did mention. So, i did look at the code, and how the apps from avs did try to open the shared disk, and see that it was trying to find a vtoc in one partition (it's not just give the disk ;) So, ZVOL's did not implement one of the needed functions (i dont remember which now, but it's like *DKCGVTOC), and EFI was not working (maybe an iscsi problem). Well, i think the last procedure is to read the raw disk looking for a "magic" flag, and so i did a "dd /dev/zero" to the disk, and did a sane format/fdisk/partition procedure. It did work without issues. I did want to blog about it, but did not. Hope that helps.
