Yeah, that hurts all of the 10 users that might run on trunk and happen to
svn up at that time. Whoops.

Anyway, I'm just getting more and more negative her. Let me walk away and
possibly be back over the weekend. I need some time off.

I think that having this kind of downtime really is a big issue, especially
as we grow.

If it was just the front page, that' wouldn't be much of an issue. But you
have to remember that this takes down svn... so nobody can svn up or do
anything. I myself got caught with a half checked-out copy.

Can't see why not. Besides, this is not really the first occurrence of such
issue.

So, a 2h downtime on our "free" host is enough to warrant a broad discussion

That's exactly the feedback I was looking from. Thanks Colin.

I run all my sites on Joyent which run on Solaris/OpenSolaris and I don't
have any problems. The only issue I've ever encountered was with Habari and
it's use of GLOB_BRACE which I helped resolve in ticket #182. In this case
GLOB_BRACE was documented not to be available on non-GNU systems anyway.

I run PHP on Solaris for dev too and I can't think of any issues that I've
encountered to be specific to PHP on Solaris.

PHP 5 runs like a dream on Solaris, so I don't think you need to worry about
the use of Solaris as the base OS: it shouldn't make much difference to the
operation of hp.o.
