Yes, of course we can do this, if we decide that's the policy we want to have.
I do feel that the current policy of "explicit opt-in", while it can lead to some loss of data, does reduce the Big Brotherishness of the system. It somehow feels better to me that each user has to explicitly give permission for each new sensor type to become active.
On the other hand, this explicit opt-in policy reduces the usability of the system and creates one more problem the user has to diagnose and correct.
Which do we value more highly: usability or control/privacy?
