Hi guys. I have a really bad problem with my computer and don't know what to do right now. The power source of my laptop broke down, it switched to battery power (I didn't notice that), and now it's all dead without battery and without power. But I need my computer. Urgently. Really urgently. I tried to repair the power source, but it did not work. So, right now, the dell support does not what to help me because I don't have my service tag number (lost that stupid sticker). (Phone support: "...just download the service tag id recognizer program and run it in winxp on your computer." - "Didn't I just tell you that the machine has NO power and I cannot switch it on?" - silence - "Oh, that's bad then. Then we can't help you with warranty based services. Buy it online, the power source will be in Hawaii end of next week...".) The support in Ggermany will probably help me because they should be able to access my customer data withput service tag. But I don't know what they can do for me then (ship me a new power source which will take a couple of days ?).
So, I think I have 3 options right now: - order a new power source and wait a week - try to buy one somewhere downtown - have more fun with the customer support. All solutions expect the second will need some time in which I cannot do anything because I cannot access my data on my computer (I just started writing a paper so just checking out hackyCGQM won't help me right now...) Does anybody, by accident, have a power source compatible with a Latitude D800 notebook (like the new Inspiron series) so that I can at least get the files from my computer and work on some other machine? Or does anybody have any other clever idea what I am supposed to do now? I'd be grateful for any constructive help.
