Thanks Brad for you suggestion I am running 1.9.2p136/rails 3.0.3 on both side, remote server is Centos 5 and local OS X 10.6.6 I'll have a look again on these locale ( as I am testing both english and french with this accentuated characters...) whatever I also replaced the Array << by Array.push...
