Caution! The Atom based processor is no guarantee that it performs without problems on Ubuntu.
I have an EeePC 1000H, Intel Atom N270 processor, Mobile Intel 945GSE Express Chipset. It worked "out of the box" with the Ubuntu Jaunty Netbook Remix but with the following setbacks: - Graphics performance is very poor. If you set appearance to normal it almost freezes and you can forget about running Google Earth. - Sound capture is also extremely weak or I haven't got my settings right but I can forget about using Skype as well. - Playing sound is OK, but the volume adjustment is too rough (insensitive). Clicking down the volume only a few steps and it becomes silent so no fine tuning there. In terms of "hot buttons" switch-on / switch-off wireless and bluetooth doesn't work. Either you have to do it in Bios or in Windows before starting Ubuntu. Anyway, most of the important features work but I still need to dual boot with XP for using Skype or Google Earth. Jaunty performs a lot better EeePC than Intrepid and Hardy did and I am hopeful that 9.10 will solve the outstanding issues. // Lars
