4. Portable NVDA: Arky, Nguyen Vu Hung, Yang Ha Nguyen
Arky will involve to all tasks to have support for everyone when needed.
And I will be also the coordinator to connect everyone as well as the "client"
.
I think we should have a meeting to kick-off the project.
Any ideas about place and time?
However, email maybe good enough (up to you). We can communicate via HanoiLUG
mailing list.
Everyone is welcome to join with us.
I hope we can have some members from SaigonLUG and other areas.

Sáng hôm qua, tôi và Arky (người Ấn Độ) đã có buổi làm việc với trung tâm Tia
Sáng thuộc Hội người mù Hà Nội (tiếp theo của buổi làm việc với hội người
khuyết tật Hà Nội hơn 1 tuần trước). Chúng tôi nhận thấy Trung Tâm và Hội cần
rất nhiều sự hỗ trợ về CNTT phục vụ cho các hoạt động nâng cao điều kiện sống
cho người mù.
Hiện phòng đào tạo về sử dụng máy tính & internet của TT đang sử dụng khoảng
gần 10 máy tính, 100% cài Windows và phần mềm hỗ trợ người mù JAWS.
Chúng tôi hy vọng có thể hỗ trợ cho Hội chuyển đổi hết sang sử dụng Linux và
FOSS.
Dự kiến ban đầu, sẽ thành lập một nhóm tình nguyện, lấy nòng cốt là tôi và
Arky, join thêm các thành viên trong HanoiLUG và các cộng đồng FOSS trong nước,
thực hiện localize (cả dịch và điều chỉnh cho thích ứng với người Việt) các
phần mềm, công cụ liên quan, sau đó triển khai trước mắt tới TT Tia Sáng, rồi
dần dần tiếp tục nhân rộng ra toàn hội người mù Hà Nội cũng như trên địa bàn cả
nước.
Đây là một hoạt động hết sức có ý nghĩa. Chúng tôi hy vọng nhận được sự ủng hộ
tham gia của các thành viên trong cộng đồng.
Dự kiến, buổi ra mắt nhóm sẽ được tổ chức trong thời gian sớm nhất tùy thuộc
vào lượng phản hồi của mọi người (có thể dùng tại VP cty iWay).
Dưới đây là danh sách một số các công việc cần thực hiện trong thời gian tới
được Arky tóm lược. Dự kiến phiên bản đầu tiên sẽ base trên Ubuntu + các tools
hỗ trợ Accessibility.

Yesterday, I and Arky (the FOSS man from India, you know) had a meeting at The
Light center of Hanoi Blind People Association. After the meeting, we see we
can help them a lot.
The Light is the center of HBPA where blind people trained skills for improving
their life especially, computer & internet accessibility skills.
They have got about 10 PCs which running Windows & JAWS. We hope can help them
to adopt to Linux and FOSS for legal issues and better Vietnamese support as
well.
Our first idea is to organize a small team among Hanoi and other FOSS
communities to localize open softwares and tools, then deploy in The Light
center, then finally, extend support to Blind People Association in Hanoi, HCMC
and all provinces.
Currently, there are two members in the team (I and Arky). I hope we can join
more people (both technicians and others) into our team.
The team will have the first meeting soon (maybe, at my office).
Below are some first tasks need to be done soon (the first version should be
based on Ubuntu).

a) Change the defaults to accessible screen reader mode
b) Create Vietnamese version of accessible LiveCD/LiveUSB
i) Get all latest gnome desktop translations
ii) Change default locale to Vn
iii) Change default speech-dispatcher locale to vn-test
2) Documentation
a) Translate Orca screen reader documentation / Tutorials / Cheat sheets to
Vietnamese
3) Training & Support
a) Conduct training sessions in Vietnamese at various Blind NGO's
b) provide local linux support
4) Portable NVDA
a) Create portable images of NVDA screen readers on usb and distribute them
