There is also the internal cache of OpenSSL which can contains 20000 sessions. I think that you can account for about the same size. Emeric submitted a recent patch where he was modifying the size of the internal session cache depending on the size of the external cache (8 times smaller). An active SSL connection can take a lot more memory than a session but I don't know how much exactly.
