It's not recommended because some features which are available across the mainstream compilers, aren't available for this compiler. This can mean such thing as you've stumbled upon with hbwin, but also several contribs (like hbqt) won't work with the compilers in not recommended status. > "Hard" to say, and try work further/upon. In INSTALL file I see : > > ================ > Windows with MinGW + msys > ------------------------- > Make sure to have msys and MinGW properly configured. > msys should be put in PATH *before* MinGW. > =============== INSTALL describes you how to build Harbour from source. Since you've downloaded the binary distro, you won't need INSTALL _at all_, unless you're considering a rebuild. Maybe I'll remove this file from the distribution if that seems confusing. > In distro I see : > > ╔═══════════════════════ c:\harbour-11 ═══════════════════[ ]═╗ > ║ Name │ Size │ Date │Time > ║.. │<UP--DIR>│04-06-09│15:41 ▒ > ║mingw │ 89340493│04-06-09│15:40 ▒ > ║mingw64 │ 201│04-06-09│15:40 ▒ > ║mingwce │ 231│04-06-09│15:40 ▒ > > > What is this "MSYS" ? > I do not see such file or directory. You don't need msys for multiple reasons: 1.) You've downloaded a binary distro, so you don't need to build from source 2.) You don't even need msys to build from source. Just ignore INSTALL for basic binary distro usage. Brgds, Viktor
