Hi, The packaging systems need some information (not just the installation files) like "depends on", "provides" etc. Especially the "depends on" helps the system to identify what other packages are needed for a correct installation.
For my point of view (since i am a user of arch linux) the make_gnu.sh along with the environment vars makes harbour distro-independed.
