Hi,
some logs from the night of St. Helena which had good conditions also on
frequencies other than 11092.5 kHz:

3900 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2320 UTC, PBS Hulun Buir (from the northernmost end of
China) heard with SINPO 34322 with Mandarin talk programme. From midnight UTC,
utility chirps presumably from the HFDL station Reykjavik, Iceland, disturbed
reception.

3560.05 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2317 UTC, Voice of Korea feeder, heard for the first
time ever, in Korean parallel to 7570 and 9975. Talk, with SINPO 34332.

3925 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2230 UTC, Radio Nikkei 1 (Japan) heard with radio play
until fade-out around 2300. SINPO initially 24322. Radio Nikkei 2 signed on at
2300 on 3945 kHz, but only the carrier could be detected, similar strength to
that of 3925, but no audio any more due to sunrise in Japan.

11870 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2156 UTC, Dr Gene Scott (Costa Rica) with the usual
sermon, SINPO 24432.

11814.97 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2153 UTC, Radio Brasil Central with pop music
parallel to 4985 kHz. SINPO 34433; on 4985 23322.

11780 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2142 UTC, Radio Nacional Amazonia (Brasil), with talk
in portuguese, mentioning "Radio Nacional". SINPO 34422.

11784.65 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2130 kHz, Radio Guaiba (Brasil), with talk in
portuguese, SINPO 14421.

11675 kHz, 15 Dec 2007, 2122 UTC, BBC via Greenville, USA, with report in
English, SINPO 23422.

What you are probably hearing is rain static, noise that can be so powerful
that it would pin the S Meter that is caused by heavy rain/hail.

Looks as though K & D might be closer to coming out with the new receiver.
Note that it is no longer denoted as the KWZ 30/2 but rather the KWZ 50.

The last medium wave transmitter of YLE, Helsinki 558 kHz, will sign off on
December 31st. The station gave a short announcement about this at 1045 UTC
today.

I'm not sure but they will probably give these local announcements during
December daily, so now it's the last moment to observe Helsinki 558 if you wish
to catch a local insert from this station. At the end of this local
announcement the station plays a short piece of YLE's interval tune. In all
other times they relay Radio Peili or Radio Finland.

Peru, 4834.90, Radio Maranon, 0040--0119, Initially noted a male and female in
Spanish comments. During their breather time, music is presented. At around
0108
a canned ID using echo effect. Signal was getting all chopped up by 0119 and
I was getting a headache from the QRM on the freq. At the beginning, the signal
as fair, but dropped to poor by shutoff time. (Chuck Bolland, December 21,
2007)

India, 5010, All India Radio, 0149-0200 At tune in, noted singing by female.
During
a pause in music, a female and male talk briefly. The comments were probably in
Hindi. At 0152 a second female relates more comments. At 0154, canned promos
heard. Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland, December 21, 2007)

Slovakia, 5930, Radio Slovakia International. 0157-0205 At tune in, noted a
male in Slovakian
language comemnts. This is followed by Interval signal and ID in Engllish as,
"you are listening
to Radio Slovakia International ..." . At 0158 a Female in French language
gives ID and schedule.
The interval signal follows this until the hour when the regular programming
begins in French.
Signal was good. (Chuck Bolland, December 21, 2007)

Russia, 5945, Voice of Russia, Amavir, 0201-0210 Just caught the ID at tune
in as, "... Voce de Ruso...". (Typed that from Memory) This is followed
with news
presented by a male in the Spanish Language. Signal was good. (Chuck Bolland,
December 21, 2007)
