here last week, tho audible on 12140, poor with CODAR QRM. Searched entire 13
MHz band for a new //, but none found. 13850 had replaced 13845 collision with
WWCR, but not back there either. Plenty of Asian signals on the band otherwise.
Latest HFCC dated Oct 3 shows 12140 is due west from SAIPAN, and no other
frequency at 1230-1330; however at 1330-1430 more khm on 11695 via Iranawila,
Sri Lanka, which was the presumed site on 13850/13845 an hour earlier (Glenn

** CHAD. 6165-, Oct 7 at 0058:28 tune-in to fair signal with music, no doubt
RNT, almost covered up by RHC carrier at *0058.30. I must make a point of

** CHINA. Firedrake [non] search for CNR1 jammers Oct 7 at 1347-1353: none
found in the out-of-band areas from 19 to 12 MHz, just weak 13830 very poor,

gospel huxter in English, fair signal. Was not on less than an hour earlier,
but when does it start? Probably as variable as the ending. Rich in Burr Ridge,

** INDIA. 11985, Oct 7 at 0055, AIR Delhi-Khampur, bits of modulation blips
cutting on and off, like a malfunxioning internet feed, alternating with dead
air; 0103 still, also could be described as fast-forwarding tape intermittently
hitting the heads. The signal level, anyway, is good with flutter. So much for
the Sinhala service on this frequency. Supposedly // 11740 via GOA is doing
much better at 0055 with talk in presumed Sinhala, also good with flutter

** KOREA SOUTH. 15575, Oct 7 at 1308, KBS WR in English with news about Comfort
Women, a sore point with the Japanese; initially sufficient signal except for
het on 15573, no doubt V. of Tibet via Tajikistan, and fortunately the CNR1
jammer is not on 15575, but apparently 15570. By 1343 recheck, KBS has faded to

** MEXICO. 770, Oct 7 at 1227 UT, gobierno federal promo for La Hora Nacional
Sunday at 10 pm (same heard on some other station this morning), ad for

David Cole in Goodwell to check whether KGYN was on the air, and he said it was

7 October 2013: There was some nasty static crashes no doubt from the
approaching cold front. And the rains came while I was listening. It was
really difficult to hear with the heavy rain falling on the roof of the Jeep!!
Propagation was probable relatively normal. LAs weren't anything special. The
4709.99 station was no better either. I was really surprised how well 19m was
doing. I've never had good reception using a BOG. Highlights would be Nabire,
Bougainville, and Bangladesh.
RX: Microtelecom Perseus SDR with ARR preamp.
ANT: 315' Beverage (BOG) at 0 degrees.
QTH: Pennsylvania State Game Lands #26.
Duration: 0900-1300.
Solar Indices: Solar Flux = 107 A Index = 2 K Index = 3 No storms. B2
X-ray Flux. 8 mhz MUF over all of Canada at 0830.
WX: Cloudy then rain starting at 1046. Windy and 65 degrees!!
PERU 4747.1 R. Huanta Dos Mil Noted a carrier already on at home at 0820
before I left, and when I started listening at 0900. Didn't hear any audio
though. Campo mx at 0933 however. 0941 M anncr DJ on w/TC and tlk, and back
to mx at 0942. 0956 ad block w/many many ments of Huanta. Still running ads
when it suddenly went off at 1003:19. Back on at 1006:08 w/ads continuing.

soft-spoken M anncr, and into AR-style Pop mx. Signal not very strong but

sounded like the song started skipping, was turned down, fixed, and resumed!!
More of the same nonstop mx until M anncr returned at 0928:40. Sounded like
choral singing very briefly then, and signal suddenly cut off at 0929:11. Glad

went off. Nice campo mx w/beautiful flute solo. 0951 M w/TC only, then diff.

UNID. 6160.068 UNID. This was not CKZU as I thought. At 1015 found both
CKZN and CKZU virtually together and audible with CKZN on 6159.967 and CKZU on
6159.972. No way to get audio on 6160.068. Not there at 1151 though. Who's

undermodulated preacher in English; much better signal from 15275 DW RWANDA;

** INDIA. 11985 // 11740, Oct 8 at 0057, AIR Sinhala service is axually
funxioning on both frequencies tonight! 0058 into music. 11740 GOA is somewhat

** NORTH AMERICA. Pirate activity is apparently up on the assumption that the
FCC`s near-total closedown will make it even less likely to get busted. Three
or four stations at once on the pirate-band!
6950.7-AM, Oct 8 at 0052 music and English announcement; no fifth harmonic of
local 1390 KCRC absent at the moment tho sometimes it cuts on as if something
is shorting; but there is briefly some QRM from Spanish 2-way on 6950-USB,
possibly a legit Mexinet. Still going at 0112 with music, and still weak; 0119
signal surges briefly during rock music; and at final check 0143. HFUnderground
logs say it`s The Crystal Ship.
6935-USB, Oct 8 at 0054, rock music past 0059, much stronger than 6950-AM
station. At 0100 tentative ID as Ronin Radio? 1-2-1 counting. 0111 next check,
it`s off. This matches many logs in HFUnderground as Wolverine Radio.
6925-USB, Oct 8 at 0054, even stronger rock music than 6935; cuts off at 0056*
but it`s just a pause with no modulation as synthetic voice comes on with ID
sounding like ``Al-Tee-Oh Radio``, then string of greeting to HF Underground,
various individuals ending with Andrew Yoder, then same announcement repeated,
and ``73s for now, until next time`` ending at 0057. Lots of logs at
hfunderground.com agree it`s LTO Radio.
6925-AM, rock music at 0127. Slightly on the lo side of 6925. Still at final
check 0143. HFUnderground logs say this is MAC Shortwave.
Meanwhile, I am paying more attention to Radio YHWH on 9775; below (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA [non?]. 9775-AM, I finally catch the strange pirate Radio
YHWH, which was first reported by Dan Sheedy on 6010 and 5990, and by Bob
Larose on 9775, both listening in S California. Bob had it UT Sept 28 during
this same hour. I`m usually checking this area for Turkey spurs, etc., but
never found it till:
Now, Oct 8 at 0105 there`s a poor signal in English with ID as Radio YHWH, and
long monolog/sermon. He`s badly squeezed between two stronger signals splashing
about equally, Turkey in Spanish from 9770, and VOA in English from 9780 Sri
Lanka, so there`s no advantage to listening in USB or LSB. At 0109 also brief
QRM from modulation spike spurs, which I expect to be ex WWV 10000 except that
fundamental is not very strong tonite; maybe from 9860 WHRI supersignal. The
9775 carrier is steady and almost on-frequency compared to neighbors;
well-modulated, it just needs to be stronger.
At 0110 preacher talks about animal sacrifices, cites Judges XI:30; 0121 still
about sacrificing; refers to an ISBN number. 9775 signal almost fades out but
occasionally peaks better, such as 0130 and 0131. 0133 cites Jeremiah XXIII:6,
Matthew XXVIII:18, Zachariah XIV:9. 0136 carrier off and right back on. 0139
asserts there will be no second-coming, nor 1,000-year reign. Apparently views
obsession with Jesus as an obstacle to direct contact with Yahweh (God). 0140,
``Thanks for listening to Radio Station YHWH --- I have another show on the
Jewish viewpoint on the coming of the Messiah``, refers to a book ? 1981. Still
going past 0145 when I tune-out.
Googling on Radio YHWH or Yahweh gets a number of hits, apparently mostly
podcasts but nothing linked to 9775. Maybe some of them are being played on
this frequency.
This of course reminds us of the licensed but long-dormant WMLK, Assemblies of
Yahweh in Pennsylvania, which is supposedly working on getting a 250 kW
transmitter and antenna operational, always registered on 9265 and 9955. But
this speaker is not its late EJOM.
Strangely enough, searching HFUnderground.com on YHWH and Yahweh gets zero
hits. Guess they haven`t been reading DXLD (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

from 5990 and general noise level, but not jamming. Plenty else to monitor

An interesting station - Greek alternative radio - but also a hard catch
here in
Thessaloniki !
This station has been heard at least 10 year ago when I was in vacations
in an
island together with 1287 NW As most Greek stations rarely identify
themselves
they were both in my unIDed station list
..
................Till summer 11!
Two years ago Iin our country house in Chalkidiki I was listening to them
with
Degen radio coupled to Tescun antenna loop and spent more than 3 hours in
finally
finding their ID and their contact info . (and by chance for 1287 but it is
not
our subject )
Some discussion of the DJ in charge revealed that there are7 DJs . Each DJ
has
his own studio. Most of these DJs are aged around 60s These studios are
located in
diverse points in Athens , radio linked (multiplexed) in to the main
transmitter on
846 kHz of reduced power of 1 kW (on a transmitter of 3 kW ) Each one airs
his
prgram once a week and on Sunday all have their time slot with a 2 hrs ! They
play
24 hrs per day
In contrast to the other free radio stations in Greece they play a radically
different music content . From the little I was able to listen , their music
is of
the era of 40-70s , with mostly western , jazz ,French , soul and the likes as
well
as Greeks (once a week,i) of the 30-50 era (mostly operas and operettas )
Each DJ
has his own time zone program . Therefore each studio is time multiplexed
Frequqncy is 846 kHz Reception as noticed in the start of this article is
rather
difficult in THS . Using R75 and 16 m horizontal antenna the signal is
only S6
at best and can be received after 9 pm local time . Inside the house only loop
antennas can make reception feasible. Outside the house only PL380 and the
refurbished DE1103 can get better results ! A short testeing on 7-9 indside
the
house was S8 max on 16 hor antenna or 25/10 on the PL380 radio.
MY verdict : 9/10 . Cannibal is nearly one of the few stations with
alternative
music (in MW ) in Greece following the near-to-demise of ERA .One of these DJs
has
verified to me that there are several other free radio stations playing a
'norm'
quite different than most MW pirates
