** BIAFRA [non]. 11530, Dec 13 at 0511, WRMI with the R. Biafra guy in English,
very poor but recognizable, so confirmed still on this 0500-0530 broadcast
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CANADA. 7850-CUSB, Dec 13 at 0035, no signal from CHU, while 3330-CUSB is
nominal; is 7850 off or MUF drop? Anyhow it`s reaudible at 0354 check, S6
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA [non]. 11785, Dec 13 at 0703, CRI news in English with Canadian accent
pauses to plug its newly branded website http://chinaplus.cri.cn Good S9-S5 via
ALBANIA, as the 25m MUF is way up tonight, this aimed 310 degrees USward, and
paired with 11855 same parameters in Chinese with het from R?dio Aparecida on
the low side circa 11854.9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1908, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** CUBA. 5025, Dec 13 at 0031, R. Rebelde is S9+35 but suptorted; wiggle that
patchcord! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 6060, Dec 13 at 0350, RHC music matches English service frequencies,
6060 & 6165, at lesser levels of modulation. B17 sked as in DXLD 17-45 shows
6060 is supposed to be in Spanish at 0200-0600, then English. This anomaly
happens periodically which is why I include ``6060?`` among English DX program
frequencies during the span before 0600. 6060 confirmed in English tonight as
``Ed Newman`` is wrapping up the hour at 0357 from Studio 6. Meanwhile I really
hear Spanish on weak 11840, 9640, 9535 and strong 5040 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** CYPRUS [non]. 9955, Tue Dec 12 at 1445, checking WRMI at our first
opportunity to hear a new episode at last from FG Radio --- but no signal ---
must be a power failure at Okeechobee; next chance will be Wed at 1400 on 9955.
see USA: WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1908, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NIGERIA [non]. 11530, Dec 13 at 0701, WRMI is unusually S9+20/30 in the
nightmiddle, in language, presumably Hausa, mentioning Kaduna, from Radio Herwa
International. (I had not checked a bihour earlier whether Radio Biafra were
audible.) OTOH, 13730 New Zealand is but a JBA carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD
OF RADIO 1908, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also BIAFRA [non]
** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-USB, Dec 13 at 0023 tune-in, immediate ID by synthyl for
Clever Name Radio, heavy beat music S8 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 13 at 0027, German at S9+10 with strange accent presumably
T?rkish, since it`s VOT once again overrunning the English broadcast supposed
to end well before 2400. With Emirler so slipshod, I expect eventually this
will happen on a UT Sunday colliding with The Mighty KBC via GERMANY which has
risked using this 5960 one day a week (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1907 monitoring: not confirmed UT Tuesday
December 12 at 0030 on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB: no signal detectable, as is usually the
case now, and we continue to wonder whether it is on the air at all, greatly
reduced power and/or just not coping with low-MUF winter propagation. BUT on
this day of week, UT Tue, we have another broadcast at 0030, WRMI 7730, and as
usual it is VG here, S9+20/30. Also confirmed Tue Dec 12 at 2030 on the WRMI
triad: 7780 // 9455 // 11580. Also confirmed Tue Dec 12 at 2130 on 9455 only,
as I could not finish new 1908 quite in time for that, but it was available to
all stations and listeners by 2230.
WORLD OF RADIO 1908 contents: Anguilla, Australia, Bangladesh, Biafra non,

WBCQ 9330v on what should have been its first SWBC: again no trace of a signal
(while neighbors are: 9265 WINB S4; 9370 WWRBS S6 and distorted; 9395 WRMIBS
S9; other WBCQ 7489.8 with Alan Sane, S9). Next:

** U S A. 9955, Dec 12 at 1445, WRMI is off --- also no signal on 11580, 11825;
still off at 1508, so I leave a receiver with BFO tuned to 9954, and it finally
pops on at 1642 with BS in progress; but the 11s are still not back by 1648
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also CYPRUS [non]
** U S A. 5830 & 9475, Dec 12 at 1405; and Dec 13 at 0025, still no signals
from WTWW-1 on day or night frequency --- but Dec 13 at 0346, 5830 is finally
back on after missing for at least five days whenever checked; evidently
biblical citations.
5085, Dec 13 at 0346, WTWW-2 is also on with music at S9+30, flanked as always
by weak parasites about 5072.1 & 5097.9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1540, Dec 13 at 0021 UT check, ID right away for KEDA San Antonio and
TexMex music, no het from KGBC like last night about 1540.11. As I hoped,
Steven Luce in Houston TX has replied Dec 12 in the DXLD yg to my log of KGBC
1540+ Galveston also referring to 1480:
``Glenn, I can confirm that KLVL and KGBC have been // at recent checks here in
Houston, running oldies music and a very occasional commercial. Both are
brokered time stations looking for new clients. The previous programmer on
KLVL (which had moved from KYND, and before that, KJOZ) only lasted a few weeks
on 1480. That group has not resurfaced anywhere.
I can hear the het on 1540 during critical hours. Nighttime at my QTH KGBC is
completely lost in the co-channel pileup. No useable reception of KLVL at
night, either, although day signal is good. During critical hours KLVL often
clashes with skywave from KBXD [Metroplex].
Speaking of KYND 1520, the station is still running the promotional loop
looking for a new programmer to lease airtime. I have noticed that the station
is not signing on until 0800 local (1400 UT) so chances of it getting out
during morning critical hours are reduced.
Houston has a lot of brokered time stations on AM, and we may have reached a
saturation point, with not enough potential clients for all of them`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CYPRUS [non]. 9955, Wed Dec 13 at 1356, Slovakia in Spanish via WRMI with
considerable Cuban pulse jamming, but by 1400 it has abated, but not off, as
`FG Radio` is starting its long-awaited new episode; the entire program,
without any Beatles breaks, is a phone interview with author Gary Powers, Jr.,
``Letters from a Soviet Prison``, his multi-year project to acquire and publish
writings of his father, the U2 pilot who was shot down and imprisoned for a
couple of years before being exchanged at the bridge in Potsdam for a Soviet
spy. He kept a journal while in custody, and was able to communicate with
family (not explained why this was allowed).
Very interesting; have not seen or heard him yet on the American book-tour
circuit. Maybe why: the book is a private printing of only 500, which can be
ordered direct from him while available, $25 plus postage from Gary Powers,
Jr., P O Box 1356, Midlothian VA 23113, or [email protected]. Next year it
will be published commercially and available from the usual sources. The host
is presumably Nathan Morley, but modestly never names himself on the air.
Further scheduled broadcasts of FG Radio on WRMI, presumably more new episodes
from next week, starting Tue?:

while 9395 & 9955 are S9-S8. Also confirmed Wednesday December 13 at 1415.5 on
WRMI 9955, fair-good with lite pulse jamming; tnx a lot, Arnie! Next:

** U S A. 9455, Dec 13 at 1054, 1435 and 1640 chex, this WRMI #5 transmitter at
285 degrees is missing, when it should be audible like 9395 & 9955 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5970, Dec 13 at 0701, WEWN Spanish is continually breaking up with
crackle, splattering plus/minus 10 kHz. Still scratchy at 1427.
12065, Dec 13 at 1418, WEWN English in Teresa`s RCC talkshow, S9+30 with
squeals, and spurblob peaks approx. plus and minus 9 kHz, and double that
weaker at 18 kHz --- just like we would hear whenever 15610 arrived with a very
strong fundamental signal. I.e., circa 12047, 12056, 12074, 12083. The spur
field range is detectable out to plus/minus 25 kHz, 12040-12090, bad news for
innocent bystations (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 17775.150, Dec 13 at 1526, KVOH playing `Feliz Navidad` tune, Jos??
Distorted and considerably off-frequency. Splatter field only 17765-17785, not
further into the 18068+ hamband at the moment, altho fundamental is quite
strong.
(BTW, I have remeasured and refined the correxion factors on the R75 for
precise frequency measurements to the Hz. Probably accurate to within 2 Hz)
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5085, Dec 13 at 0705, WTWW-2 is still on with S9+20 of dead air.
Wonder when the music stopped? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
