The Courtesy Program Committee (CPC) of the National Radio Club and the
International Radio Club of America are tracking the status of high school
football in all 50 states during the 2020 DX season.
COVID-19 has impacted sports at all levels. Some states have opted to delay
their seasons until later in the fall or even the spring. Many have delayed the
start of the season, and some have cancelled.
This means a lot of unique opportunities for DX?ers this Fall and Winter. You
may also want to check individual station websites if you?re targeting a
particular station. For example, here in Alabama HSFB is being played, but
individual cancellations due to COVID-19 are common.
A school may be forced to forfeit one or two games in a row due to a
coronavirus outbreak on their team. This too means a cancellation of the local
radio broadcast.
The CPC hopes this aids DX?ers in their pursuit to log new ones this year.

** CANADA. 223-MCW kHz, Sept 17 at 0635 UT, ND beacon dash and YYW,

248-MCW kHz, Sept 17 at 0639 UT, NDB dash and UL, 1000 watts from
Montr?al, Qu?bec. A new log for me, but frequently reported from
Michigan over the past sesquidecade. City-to-city distance: 2268 km =
1409 stmi.
[non]. 245-MCW kHz, Sept 17 at 0638, NO signal from YZE, Gore Bay,
Ontario, leaving FS, Sioux Falls SD in the clear; per
dxinfocentre.com, YZE was to be decommissioned on Sept 10 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Sept 17 at 1358: none in the 13s or
higher than: 12880 S5 music, JBA carriers on 12870, 11440, 11100
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** COLOMBIA? 4940, Sept 17 past 0500, anonymous missionary station is
still going with M&W dialog, VG at Bonaire SDR. Also audible at 0622
direct S6-S7 with talk. Manuel M?ndez. Lugo, Spain, points out:
``Hi, Glenn, despite the religious station on 4940 mentioning a lot of
times "Colombia", and it has programs like "Lecciones de la Historia
Colombiana", always announcing UT -4 time, instead of UT -5. Years ago
a Venezuelan station transmitted on 4940 kHz, Radio Amazonas, Puerto
Ayacucho. It is possible this religious station is using the Radio
Amazonas transmitter? The religious station is heard every day here in
Reinante, Lugo, North West of Spain with weak to very weak signal.
This weekend I will be in Friol and there I will have better
conditions to hear it. Best 73,s``
Puerto Ayacucho is right on the border with Colombia, near the NE
corner of that country, and not too far from one of the TDoA results,
Marahuaca national park, Amazonas, Venezuela (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 4980, Sept 17 at 0623, not just a JBA carrier, but VP S8-S9
of music, presumed WRMI extra frequency/transmitter, maybe on more
than exciter power, or a fluke propagational pipeline. Not // any
other WRMI frequency, mostly TOMBS. Still nothing whatsoever about
this on WRMI skedgrids --- at this hour half the 14 transmitters are
not scheduled: #2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 14 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic just-barely-audible mediumwave carrier
search, Sept 17 at 0627-0635 UT: 576(2), *621 strongest, 684(2), 747,

Notable for their absence are 531 & 891, Algeria too far into dayside?
And no 846 sign of TP Kiritimati which is totally night-path, off?
*621 presumed Canary Islands (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Since the FM Eskip season is over and Tropo doesn?t happen here really, I
like to look back at some of my logs from summer
Here?s a few from my listening post in Laramie, WY.
This one is K290AGG 105.9 Stockton, CA relaying KSTN 1420. At 31 seconds
you?ll hear a nice fade up of Locash?s ?One Big Country Song?. I can
regularly hear KSTN 1420 from my location as well.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zLzazLi9Bd967B6q3aZgyCQsaGaQ8i1E/view?usp=drivesdk
My favorite log from this summer was KDRT-LP 95.7 Davis, CA. 100 watts at
50 feet. Fast forward to 21 seconds when it gets reallllly clear.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xrVW4aX-WIpgxKnOiG52YLVZ3fSmyV21/view?usp=drivesdk
KFRC(KCBS) 106.9 San Francisco, CA ws so strong one day the RDS showed up,
stayed and the HD even locked a few times, including once or twice during
the traffic report

And this was my longest Eskip log of this year... WSLQ 99.1 Roanoke, VA
