The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Clearly the big story today is the FBI shakeup...Mueller and Ashcroft have a 1 pm
presser scheduled and we'll show you the highlights...What exactly are the details and
will it improve this nation's intelligence and counterterrorism operations? We'll get
into these questions and much more with some former FBI types...Plus, we got a friend
of the Minneapolis whistle blower Coleen Rowley...
We'll also do the India-Pakistan story...Mik is reporting at this hour: "Pentagon
officials report today both India and Pakistan are stepping up preparations for a
large-scale conventional war over Kashmir, but fears are rising here that both sides
could quickly go nuclear...." We'll bring you the latest and talk to the editor in
chief of "Pakistan Today"
In the D block we'll do the Libya/Qaddafi story...Remember that guy from the Jordache
jeans/disco days? He's offering billions of dollars to the family members of victims
of Pan Am flight 103. But here's the catch: "Libya would place the money in escrow
and compensation would be conditional. Each of three payments would be linked to
decisions by the United Nations and the U.S. government to lift long-standing economic
sanctions and to remove Libya from the American list of state sponsors of
terrorism."..Crazy but true folks...Some family members say take the money, others say
no way...We'll debate it tonight...
Howard will do e/f...His latest piece profiles Karl Rove...I've got it below..
So what did you think of Chris in the Middle East? Pretty cool huh? Send your
