latest in the high stakes diplomatic game emanating from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, 
NW...Phones lines have been burning up over the past couples days in last minute calls 
to salvage the U.S. backed U.N. resolution...The Post reports this morning the British 
are making amends in order to garner 9 of the 15 votes in the Security Council 
necessary and yet a veto from France and Russia looks extremely likely...The thinking 
is that, despite a veto which would kill the resolution, a majority of "ayes" would 
give the resolution a multilateral patina and legitimacy...

appears to be losing patience with the U.N. Security Council among other notable

is pledging the bill's passage by week's end and the White House promises a 
signature...
