Tonight we'll do an in depth report about troubling tactics the U.S. Army and
National Guard are engaged in to make up for recruiting short falls...We'll
talk to a young man, along with his mom, who says he was pressured into joining
the National Guard...He was also promised a job as a medic and a $6,000 signing
bonus...They also told him that National Guardsmen don't go to combat zones
overseas...Well guess what? He doesn't have the $6K, he's not gonna be a medic
and he's getting shipped overseas this Summer..
We'll also talk to the 17 year old High School journalist in Colorado who went
undercover to report on Army recruiting tactics...He was told to lie and cheat,
BY ARMY RECRUITERS, in orde to pass muster...He even told them he did drugs and
the recruiters showed him how to get around that in order to join...Recently
the New York Times also reported on the Army recruiting young men who were not
quite mentally stable
This sounds very disturbing people...We'll get reax from Major General Michael
Rochelle, Commanding General of the Army Recruiting Command from Columbia, SC
with a set up piece from David Shuster
Later in the show we'll do a Shrum/Fund duo thing on Bush's trip to Europe and
talk of a Filibuster deal on Capitol Hill...We may even throw in a little
Social Security talk while we're at it...Can you take the excitement??
