For those of you who were sitting around Saturday thinking, "Gee, I wonder how
NBC Newschannel played in the Media Softball League Championship Tourney this
weekend," I'm happy to report we did quite well. We went 2-2, winning our first
two games against WTTG (the local Fox affiliate) and The Washington Times (the
#1 seeded team in the tourney!). Unfortunately we lost to CNN and USA Today,
but even then, the team played really well. For our first playoffs run, it was
a good one. Hats off to Hardball correspondent David Shuster, who, in addition
to a stellar performance in center field, hit a killer homerun in the first
game and had some key RBIs in the second game. Thanks to the fellow NBC'ers
who came out to support us. It was a ton of fun! For the full report on the
tourney, check out the Metropolitan Media Softball League website at
http://www.mediasoftball.net/. Until next year!
