The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Fed up with waiting for the Senate to give his UN nominee an up-or-down vote,
President Bush recess-appointed John Bolton to that ambassadorial post...Dems
are none to happy and neither are the folks who booed him on the street outside
the UN as he began his first day on the job...Could there be some Dem blowback
on Roberts?? David Gregory kicks off coverage from the north lawn and then we
turn to Bolton backer Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN)...
Confused by just what the heck a "recess appointment" is? Me too...That's why
we've asked David Shuster to cook up a package detailing what it means and the
history of that particular presidential prerogative...
Andrea checks in with the latest from the CIA leak case and that hot Novak
column (link below) where he takes the CIA to task...Ginsberg and McMahon will
slice and dice the politics of the Roberts nomination and the CIA leak...
And my personal favorite segment of the evening comes courtesy of one of
Grandma's favorite talk radio hosts, KSFO "hot talk" 570 in San Francisco
Melanie Morgan and Optruth.org's Paul Rieckhoff....Melanie, you might recall,
lead a delegation of a half dozen conservative radio talk show hosts earlier
this month to Iraq to combat what she says is the MSM's (bloggerspeak for
"mainstream media") imposing a "Vietnam template" on Iraq and harming our war
effort by reporting negative stories...She believes a concerted effort is
underway...Paul Rieckhoff, founder of http://www.optruth.org (an advocacy group
for Iraq & Afghanistan veterans) and an Iraq veteran himself...He called her
self described "truth tour" "propaganda."
