            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Tonight's show intends on being so hot I'm calling on loyal viewers to break
out the TV trays and pop the popcorn...We're going hard on the Michael
"Brownie" Brown hearing on the Hill...Folks, the House was en fuego today as
Members of the House Committee on Government Reform lit into Brownie...And
folks Brownie didn't back down...There were no "mea culpas" here...He blamed a
"dysfunctional" Louisiana as well a hysterical media, which we'll take issue
with tonight...The blame game in full affect...He got into a serious
tête-à-tête with both Shays and Taylor, in particular...We'll show you the
sound tonight..

Late today Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco issued a statement which read in
part:

"Such falsehoods and misleading statements, made under oath before Congress,
are shocking. It clearly demonstrates the appalling degree to which Mr. Brown
is either out of touch with the truth or reality. Today's hearing only supports
the need for a thorough, non-partisan investigation of this event."

We'll talk to a reporter who was down on the scene in New Orleans and then talk
to Allen (R-VA) and Durbin (D-IL) about FEMA's response...Rep. Bobby Jindal
(R-LA) will also stop by to respond to Brownie as well...We may also follow up
with the "no bid contract" story we got into last night...

The President made his 7th trip to the Gulf Coast since Katrina to check out
reconstruction and the aftermath of Rita...Shuster reports from Beaumont, TX

Milbank reports on the Martinez "pig-fest" (our words, not his) in the Hart
building hosted by Senator Martinez and Halliburton (among others) and
featuring 200 lobbyists and corporate reps on how to cash in on the
reconstruction of New Orleans...A lawyer in attendance said that the spending
would probably exceed $200 billion and would "fast and furious."

We'll talk to Milbank, Howard and Mike Allen about this jamboree as well as the
Brownie testimony and Cindy Sheehan's visit to DC...

BTW, Cindy Sheehan is meeting with folks on the Hill including Hillary, McCain,
Lugar, Reid and Kennedy...We'll talk to her in one of her first TV interviews
since being arrested yesterday...

Definitely "must see"! Please join us...Dominic Bellone wrote, compiled and
