The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
A good measure of frisson was had by all on staff when we got word late
yesterday evening that The Hammer was stopping by to explain his indictment and
why it was a "ham sandwich with no ham"...Chris bogarted my cell phone and
conferred on the booking with our EP...For my part I was dispatched down to the
5th floor to greet him and his press guy Kevin, as they exited from one of
those "other" networks...We quickly hustled up on the elevator and through our
super secret back entrance to the studio...When minutes are at stake in live TV
you've gotta move quick, of course...Anyway, we hope you enjoyed it...

Speaking of DeLay, we'll get a follow up with this lawyer Dick DeGuerin from
Austin...
We lead, however, with the vote and swearing in of Judge Roberts to be the 17th
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court with White House correspondent David Gregory
leading off at bat followed up by two ideologically opposed members of the
Senate, Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
In the B & C block of the show we're straight up kickin' some serious gravitas
with two veteran Washington Wiseman: David Gergen and Pat Buchanan...Pat's
fired up and as he was just walking by the office he said "we've got seven
presidential administrations between us"...No doubt we can benefit from their
wisdom as they shed some light on the political implications of Roberts...Btw,
Pat blogs on the Hammer here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5445086/
Following the interview with DeGuerin Texas liberal gadfly Molly Ivins checks
in with Susie Molinari for some serious Hammer slicin' and dicin...Oh yeah, and
David Shuster was at Tom DeLay's favorite BBQ joint in DeLay's hometown of
Sugarland, TX for local reax...We'll bring it to you
