The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Well, here we go. It's just about 24 hours until President Bush delivers his
State of the Union address. We'll get ready for that on two editions of
Hardball tonight -- one at 5 pm eastern and another one at 7 pm eastern.
But getting ready for the president's big speech is just the half of it.
Hardball officially launches MSNBC's Decision 2006 election coverage tonight!
Chris will kick it all off with his exclusive interview with Rep. Tom DeLay
(R-TX), the former House Republican leader who is now in perhaps the toughest
reelection fight of his career. Here's a transcript of the interview:

Decision 2006: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11061002/.
In our later show tonight, we'll also have the results of the just-released NBC
News/Wall Street Journal poll. NBC News' Washington Bureau Chief and "Meet the
Press" Moderator Tim Russert will join Chris to talk about those numbers.
Charlie Cook, NBC News analyst and publisher of the Cook Political Report, will
be here to talk about the DeLay race, the Abramoff effect, and what to expect
in the State of the Union.
Hardball's David Shuster also will preview the big speech by the numbers.
MSNBC's Chief Washington Correspondent Norah O'Donnell will take a look back at
the Bush presidency leading up to tomorrow's speech. Plus, Tucker Carlson, host
of MSNBC's "The Situation," Hardblogger All-Stars Pat Buchanan and Bob Shrum,
Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Scarborough Country," Hardball Political
Analyst Kate O'Beirne, and Rev. Al Sharpton will all be here tonight to share
there thoughts and expectations for the State of the Union and Decision 2006.
And be sure to tune in Tuesday night for MSNBC's coverage of the State of the
Union! Before we get there, vote in our online poll for what you think the
president should focus on: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10992973/.
