            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

It's Friday night, and that means it's time for another edition of the Hardball
HotShots. This week, Chris welcomes MSNBC's Tucker Carlson, Rita Cosby, and Ron
Reagan to hash out the big stories and personalities of the week -- from Dick
Cheney's hotel needs to Katherine Harris' big campaign donation (from herself)!

Also tonight, Chris will talk with White House Communications Director Nicolle
Wallace about the president's media blitz this week to rally support for the
U.S. presence in Iraq and his own leadership. Is it working? Will there be new
blood added to the president's West Wing team to reinvigorate a poll-suffering
administration? President Bush wrapped up a week of public appearances
defending the Iraq War today with a trip to Indiana and Pennsylvania for some
congressional fundraisers. Vice President Cheney was also on a cash dash in
Florida for some GOP hopefuls. But are Republicans worried about seeming too
close to an unpopular president, an unpopular war, and a potentially divisive
immigration plan in an election year? Has the Bush Administration turned to a
strategy of criticizing the media to avoid a fight with its own party on
Capitol Hill? Here's the AP's report on the love(money)/hate(polls)
relationship between candidates and the president:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11988100/.

The Washington Post and the New York Times have in-depth looks at the
immigration tension between the White House and Congress today and how that
fight could impact the 2006 and 2008 elections:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/24/politics/24bush.html and
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/23/AR2006032301785.html.

Also, Rev. Al Sharpton and Vanity Fair's Christopher Hitchens will be here to
talk about the politics of Iraq both there and here at home, as well as the
political implications for President Bush with Christian conservatives if the
Afghan government executes a Christian convert. NBC News is reporting that a
diplomatic source says that the Afghan Christian convert is set to be released
this weekend: http://dailynightly.msnbc.com/.
