The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
It's a super Friday night on Hardball not only because it's time for the
Hardball HotShots, but also because it's the final night of our week long
celebration of Hardball's 9th Anniversary. It's been a memorable week of guests
and news as Chris talked with 2008 presidential contenders Gov. Mitt Romney
(R-MA) and Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), as well as Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA),
journalist Seymour Hersh, and GOP strategist Matthew Dowd, who is trying to
work his Bush-Cheney '04 magic on Schwarzenegger '06.
Tonight, the anniversary week excitement keeps going strong! As more retired
generals call on Defense Sec. Don Rumsfeld to quit, President Bush today said
in a statement that Rumsfeld has his "full support and deepest appreciation."
Will Rumsfeld go? Will the U.S. engage Iran? Those questions loom, and tonight
Gen. Tommy Franks (Ret.), the man who commanded the U.S. forces in Iraq, will
join Chris to talk about it all.
Plus, for the latest in the CIA leak probe and the Moussaoui trial, we'll talk
with Richard Ben-Veniste, the former 9/11 commissioner and Watergate
prosecutor.
And of course Friday night means it's time for another action-packed edition of
the Hardball HotShots! Rita Cosby, Joe Scarborough, and Tucker Carlson will be
here to run through the ins and outs of the big stories of the week!
